Fred and Ellen O'Caruso
and the Irish Connection!

Ellen's Irish connections are through her grandmother, Alice Lynch, and lead  directly to Darrylea, Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, about 50 miles north west of Dublin,  just a few miles south of the border with Northern Ireland.

Fred's Irish connections began with his rescue some 500 miles off the cold North Atlantic coast of  Ireland in September 1962.

The incident was the ditching of a chartered Flying Tiger Airlines Super Constellation headed for Frankfurt, Germany. It occurred at night during a raging storm. Twenty eight persons lost their lives. Forty eight survived the rescue operation.

He began his lifelong journey as the "Born Again Irishman" during his brief stay at Mercy Hospital in Cork City, at the end of the Flying Tiger saga.

The New Jewel

Fred and Ellen's attachment to Ireland has grown over the years and through many trips back "home." They both hold dual U.S. and Irish citizenships and own a home, known as "The Jewel," in West County Cork, two miles north of the village of Glengarriff on Bantry Bay, approximately 60 miles west of Cork City. The Jewel doubles as their high tech European business  headquarters as well as their hide-away. Check out the pictures and see the transformation for yourself.
